Brilliant Ideas: SUIKO
Takahiro Iwasaki is best known for his detailed miniature landscapes, made from found materials such as toothbrushes, books, flags and used clothing – even hair. Having grown up in Hiroshima, his works, while whimsical, are melancholy, reflecting Japan’s past trauma, both historically and more recently with the Fukushima nuclear disaster. One of six episodes I shot for Bloomberg's Brilliant Ideas series.
